Team_Australia_LOGOTeam Australia is Australia’s National Team comprised of the best young talent and seasoned veterans who have played in some of the biggest leagues and competitions in the world including the biennial IBAF World Cup & the triennial World Baseball Classic.

Currently ranked 14th out of the 75 teams who participate in international competition, Australia has a reputation of tenacity on the international stage.

2013 Australian roster included 8 Major League players and 2 Olympic Silver Medalists, and 16 currently under professional contract in MLB and other international professional leagues.

Australia has competed in all three installments of Major League Baseball’s World Baseball Classic and play in the biennial IBAF World Cup making it to the quarter finals of the tournament in 1998, 2007 and 2009 when they placed 5th.

Australia’s most spectacular international baseball achievement to date came at the 2004 Athens Olympics when Australia took the silver medal to Cuba’s gold. Australia competed in the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic Games, and although not currently an Olympics sport, Baseball is looking towards re-instatement for the 2020 games in Tokyo.

Australia has also played in the Intercontinental Cup and is one of only five nations to have won Gold at this tournament.

The first overseas tour by an Australian team was in 1897 when a team of players from Victoria and South Australia toured across the United States. Australia once again played the United States Baseball team in 1956 in a demonstration at the Melbourne Olympics.
